“Chinonyelum is so wonderful to our family. She is above and beyond knowledgeable on how to care for our daughter. Even on her days off she checks in with me... She deeply cares about our whole family and is always willing to help out where she can.

Funding Programs
We Work With
Using AHS programs or provincial funding? We match you with caregivers and handle timesheets, invoices, and reports so care can start sooner. Where available, we support direct billing through Alberta Blue Cross.
Client Directed Home Care
For eligible clients who hire and direct their own caregivers. We provide caregiver matches, AHS-aligned timesheets, and invoices that meet Alberta Blue Cross requirements. Hours and tasks follow your AHS care plan.
Persons with Developmental Disabilities
For adults with developmental disabilities. We match staff for community living, respite, and daily-living support and supply the reporting your PDD team requests.
Self-Managed Care
Funding to hire and manage personal care aides. We help you find vetted caregivers and keep the admin simple with clear records and reporting. You (or your agent) remain the employer of record.
Child and Family Services
In-home and out-of-home supports coordinated by caseworkers. We align matches to your service plan and complete the necessary visit logs and safety checks.
Family Support for Children with Disabilities
Supports children with disabilities at home and in the community. We coordinate with your FSCD worker, match caregivers to your child’s needs, and provide the documentation FSCD requires.
Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped
Income support for eligible Albertans. While AISH isn’t a direct care-funding stream, families often use benefits to pay for support. We provide clear receipts and flexible scheduling.
FAQs
Who are the caregivers?
Independent workers with relevant experience. Profiles include skills, rates, and references where available.
How fast can care start?
Most families receive a shortlist within 24 hours. Start dates depend on your schedule and your caregiver.
Do you serve all of Calgary?
Yes. We also cover nearby communities. Share your address and we’ll match by distance.
How are Alto caregivers vetted?
Yes. We vet to a standard aligned with Saskatchewan Health Authority practices: verified identity, Canadian credentials, and a current police/RCMP criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector, where required). We do not accept third-party background checks.
Can I use FSCD or AISH with Alto?
Many families do. Your caseworker sets the rules. We help you find caregivers who understand the process.
What are the rates?
Rates are set by each caregiver and shown up front. You only pay for hours worked.
What if the first match isn’t right?
Ask us for more options. We’ll adjust your request and send new profiles.
What happens if a caregiver can’t make it?
If a booked caregiver becomes unavailable, our coordinators help line up a quick replacement from your local pool. We confirm by message or phone so care continues with minimal disruption, and you’re never charged for hours not worked.
