How much will I get paid on Alto?

One of the best parts of being a caregiver on Alto is being able to choose how much to charge for your services. We’ve put together some information to help you make your decision, but at the end of the day the decision is up to you.

As part of creating your profile, you need to decide what your hourly rate is going to be.

You should consider your experience, education, expenses, and location when deciding your hourly rate.

The more experience and education you have, the higher your hourly rate should be.

Expenses should also be factored into your hourly rate. Things like equipment, supplies, insurance, transportation, and taxes are all things you should consider before setting your hourly wage. Don’t worry if you’re not totally sure at first - you might understand this better after a few months, at which point you can adjust your hourly rate.

A good starting point is to look at the average hourly wage in your location. Here’s a breakdown of averages across Canada according to Indeed:

Housekeeper

Average: $16.71

Recommendation: $16-25 an hour depending on your level of experience and if you are going to supply your own cleaning supplies or use the client’s.

Child Care Provider

Average: $17.09

Recommendation: $12-25 an hour depending on your level of experience and the province in which you reside.

Home Support Worker

Average: $22.45

Recommendation: $19-28 an hour depending on your level of experience and the province in which you reside.

RPN (Registered Psychiatric Nurse):

Average: $41.49

Recommendation: $38-50 an hour depending on your level of experience and the province in which you reside.

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse):

Average: $31.40

Recommendation: $28-35 an hour depending on your level of experience and the province in which you reside.

RN (Registered Practical Nurse):

Average: $38.53.

Recommendation: $38-50 an hour depending on your level of experience and the province in which you reside.

Remember that Alto has a 15% service charge to all hours worked on the platform. This means you will want to add 15% to what you would like to earn.

For example, if you would like to earn $21.00 per hour, take $21.00 x 1.15 = $24.15
