What is the Vetting Process?

Passing our Vetting Process is a requirement of all caregivers on Alto. Without it, their profile won’t go live and they won’t be visible to families and individuals searching for home care.

In order to pass the Vetting Process, each caregiver must provide the following:

  • Government Issued Photo ID that matches the name on their documents

  • CPR & First Aid from a Canadian accredited institution that is not expired

  • Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector performed within the last three months.

Home support workers and nurses also have the option to submit proof of their education through our Vetting Process. They will receive a Home Support Worker, LPN or RN badge on their profile accordingly. RNs and LPNs must be actively registered with their professional associations.

What is a Home Support Worker?

Home support worker certifications are usually offered by a public institution for post-secondary technical education and skills training, such as Saskatchewan Polytechnic or St. John’s Ambulance. Examples of possible Home Support Worker certifications include:

  • Personal Support Workers

  • Disability Support Workers

  • Continuing Care Assistants

  • Health Care Aides

  • Resident Care Worker

  • Nursing Assistant

Don’t all companies vet their caregivers?

Unfortunately, no. While some are thorough, others cut corners, make exceptions, and the clients are worse off for it.

We believe that by maintaining transparency and consistency in our Vetting Process, we can make home care safer for everyone involved.
