Questions to ask your client

Once you have accepted a booking, you will be able to message the client via your inbox.  We recommend that you reach out to the client and start a conversation. By starting the conversation, you can show the client that you are taking initiative and are committed to providing quality care.

Here are some questions you can ask before the booking takes place:

  1. Have you ever had home care before?

Some families are experienced with home care and will have specific tasks for you to do when you arrive. Others are new to home care and would benefit from your experience.

  2. What tasks need to be completed?

They should have this listed in the Care Profile or booking details, but if they don’t, it’s a good idea to ask.

  3. Who will be at the booking?

Sometimes the client is booking care on behalf of someone else, in which case they may or may not be there.

  4. What’s the parking like? If it’s in a community residence like an apartment or a care home, do I need to check in or buzz in?

Make sure you’re able to get there and know where to go.

  5. What are the clients preferences?

Do they have favourite interests, food, hobbies, ways they would like to be addressed.

  6. Do you have any questions for me?

Keep open communication and show you’re eager to help them in their care journey by asking them if they have any questions for you.

Reaching out to the client and communicating with them can help create lasting caregiver-client relationships.
